Work out why an enrolled student has not synced to ManageBac+
The OpenApply and ManageBac+ sync runs every two to four hours through the Faria SyncHub. When a student does not appear, the cause is almost always their status, their academic year or a duplicate detail.
Check these in order
- Wait for the next syncData syncs every two to four hours. A student enrolled in the last few hours may simply not have synced yet.
- Check the status and yearOnly students marked Enrolled for the present academic year or earlier are created in ManageBac+. A student enrolled for next year will not sync until that year becomes current.
- Check for a duplicate email or Student IDEach enrolled student needs a unique email address and a unique Student ID in both systems. A clash stops the account being created.
- Check the year levels matchYear levels in OpenApply and ManageBac+ must match in number and order.
- Check the parent accountsParents of enrolled students must have activated OpenApply accounts so their email addresses are unique.
- Check both systems are on the same academic yearIf one system has rolled over and the other has not, students will not sync as expected.
What the sync does
| Action | What happens |
|---|---|
| User creation | A student marked Enrolled in OpenApply is created in ManageBac+ with their parents. |
| User update | Changes to core details, such as an address, are copied to the other system. |
| User archive | A student marked Withdrawn or Graduated is archived, along with parents who have no other active children. |
📌 Good to know
The sync is switched on by our support team. If it has never been enabled for your school, contact us to arrange a free data quality check first.
