Update to Parent View

OpenApply is launching a new and improved parent user interface (UI) in Spring 2024. The new interface is mobile friendly, offers an improved design, and makes it even easier for parents to manage their applications to your school. You can see an example of the new design below. We also have information on how this looks for parents here. The new UI has been thoroughly tested and already released to a select number of schools, and is planned to be rolled out to all other OpenApply schools by 30 April 2024.

FAQs

1. Do I need to do anything to receive this update?

No, the update will be deployed automatically to all OpenApply schools.

2. Do I need to do anything to prepare, or after the update has been deployed?

There is no need to prepare for the update at all. Forms, checklists and other key functions will be completely unaffected by the update. There are just two key settings we recommend for you to check after the update has been deployed, to make sure they display well in the new interface.

a. Make sure that the photos on your OpenApply homepage display correctly. In case any of the photos appear cropped or stretched, you can update them via Settings > School Settings > School Photos. Photos can be provided in PNG, JPEG or GIF format, and we recommend to crop them to be 732px (W) by 330px (H) (or a multiple of these dimensions) before uploading, for the best results. We have advice on uploading School Photos here.

b. Make sure that the content in your 'Pages' displays correctly. Pages will now be shown at the bottom of your OpenApply homepage. So you can scroll down to the bottom, to make sure that they appear correctly. If you wish to edit any of the content to fit better with the new design, you can edit them via Settings > School Settings > Pages.  We have advice on publishing and editing pages here.

3. Are there any changes to the functionality?

No, parents will still have exactly the same functions, such as checklists, adding siblings, paying application fees, etc. The same features are just present in a new and improved design.
